20th June – 20th July 2008
The theme is FRESH! And will investigate and celebrate fresh ideas, fresh talent, new communities, fresh air (pollution free sustainable environments), fresh food (planning to reduce food miles)
The London Festival of Architecture will be focussed in five hubs; Camden & Bloomsbury, Clerkenwell & City, Southwark & Southbank, Kensington & Chelsea and Canary Wharf & Thames Gateway. These hubs will be defined areas of concentrated activity where events will take place, people will congregate and where the buzz of major events will be evident. Events will take place outside the hubs, but we are keen not to lose the vibrancy of the occasion by the spreading of activity too widely.
Each hub will have a coordinating group that will draw together contributors from their area, allocate locations, oversee budgets and report to the main committee. There will be a programme of exhibitions, lectures, seminars, street events, walks, cycle rides, installations, railings exhibitions and charrettes and the main Festival information centre will be at the NLA at the Building Centre, in Store Street.
